Ernest Gallegos

It is with love in our hearts and tears in our eyes we bid our loving father farewell on his greatest journey yet. Ernest died Tuesday, April 23rd of heart failure at the age of 80. He was a wonderful father, good provider, friend and confidant to his daughters. Over the years he was more than passionate about his various interests and hobbies which included hunting and fishing. He always said, ?when I?m sitting out in nature I see all the beauty that God created and it makes me feel closer to God?. His greatest accomplishment was his service to his country as a member of the U.S. Army 23rd Regimental Combat Team Second Infantry Division Company D participating in the Korean war from 1950?1951 at the age of 18. In the last years of his life he discovered the Korean War Second Infantry Division Association regional reunions and participated in a number of reunions locally and nationally which brought a sense of camaraderie and connection to others who he formed new friendships with. Our father had a loving heart and a helping hand and would always reach out to help those in need, he never forgot to count his blessings and think to himself ?there but for the grace of God go I?. At times our father was known to very steadfast in his opinions of many things in life, although he was a very passionate man and he felt very strongly about his convictions. He will be greatly missed and will remain in our hearts forever. Survived by his daughters: Catherine Gallegos (Sean Woodward) of Boulder Creek, and Rose Marie Jauch (Peter) of Tracy; his sister: Theresa Salazar; and his brothers: Theodore Gallegos, Richard Gallegos, and Paul Gallegos. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife, Mary Gallegos, in 2002. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 3, from 9-11am at Fremont Chapel of the Roses, 1940 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536. A Chapel Service will begin on Friday at 11am at the chapel. Burial will follow at Irvington Memorial Cemetery in Fremont, CA.
